Our Story
From Office Chairs to Open Fields
After 40 years of office life and raising four boys, we did the thing people only talk about: we bought a small farm in Barwell and started again.
We're Stef and Sue, and this is our little farm at the edge of Leicestershire — a few acres of growing beds, a polytunnel, a flock of pasture-raised hens, and (as of this spring) a small flock of sheep, including a very noisy set of triplets. 🐑
The journey so far
2025 was our learning year. We dug trial beds, watched how water moved across the land, learned what our soil wanted, and made every beginner mistake in the book — usually twice.
2026 is the year it all came to life. Our first bouquets sold at Burbage Farmers Market. Our salad mix earned us comments we'll never delete. Our flowers found their way into local florists in Burbage, Earl Shilton and Barwell — sometimes less than ten minutes after leaving the field.
And June sees us launching our own weekly stall right here in Barwell, so our neighbours can buy from the farm every single week.
How we grow
Everything here is grown without chemicals. We farm regeneratively — which simply means we put more back into the soil than we take out.
Our sheep graze and feed the land, our hens follow behind, and our beds are managed for healthy soil and biodiversity, not just this year's harvest.
And we keep it ultra-local on purpose. We only sell within about 10 miles of the farm, because the whole point is this: food and flowers taste better, last longer and mean more when they haven't travelled.
If we don't grow it, we don't sell it.
Come and see
Find us every Tuesday at our Barwell stall, or monthly at Burbage Farmers Market — we're the stall with the carrot logo and far too many photos of lambs on our phones.
Or follow along on Instagram @sas.little.farm for the highs, the hard days, the laughs and the lessons.
