From Office Chairs to Open Fields

After 40 years of office life and raising four boys, we did the thing people only talk about: we bought a small farm in Barwell and started again.

We’re Stef and Sue, and this is our little farm at the edge of Leicestershire — with growing beds, a polytunnel, pasture-raised hens and a small flock of sheep, including a very noisy set of triplets. 🐑

2026: our first production year

Our first year of production exceeded every expectation. We attended more markets, welcomed more subscriptions and received more interest from restaurants than we had planned.

Just as importantly, we learned a huge amount about what works — and what doesn’t — across crop and flower varieties, the quantities people want, and the practical logistics of harvesting, packing and getting fresh produce to customers.

Why we’re closing the 2026 flower and veg season in September

We have made the positive decision to bring our 2026 flower and vegetable sales season to a close in September. There is a great deal to do now so we can build on this year’s strong local customer engagement and support, and expand our capabilities for 2027.

Our 2027 build includes doubling the land we plant, creating a new wash station, adding more crop protection and shade, improving produce storage, and preparing for regular flower and veg subscriptions, more markets and expanded direct sales to restaurants and other local businesses.

Lamb boxes remain planned for October–December 2026. Our expanded flower and vegetable season will return from April 2027.

How we grow

We’re building a soil-first farm. Our sheep and hens are part of how we care for the land, and our growing beds are planned around healthy soil and biodiversity. We avoid chemical sprays and want everything we offer to be local, seasonal and traceable.

Collection and delivery arrangements for 2027 will be confirmed before orders open. If we don’t grow or rear something here, we won’t present it as ours.
